Deceived Now Available

Who can Brooke trust?

Running a winery on her own was never her plan. When the pushy accountant offers to help, she accepts but his methods leave her doubting that he’s looking out for her best interests.

After learning the man she desires, the man pursuing her, is also her landlord, she questions his motives. But Declan swears he’s on her side.

If Brooke had trust issues before, they weren’t helped when Declan is arrested. Sure, he says he was framed, but … the more she looks into what happened, the less that makes sense.

“Who do you trust?” the quiet voice inside her head kept asking. Too much rested on her answer being right. She could lose the winery, her heart or both. While Declan could lose his freedom or his life.

This is a steamy, stand-alone, HEA romantic suspense.

Best Indie Writers Conference

Posted on

I meant to write about this conference after I returned but I was busy writing and editing. I love the inspiration and energy I received from the 20 Books Vegas conference.

It is hands down my favorite writer’s conference. I attended in 2017 for the inaugural event. The 2018 conference was even better.  The southwest in November is beautiful. I returned refreshed and ready to get back to all of my deadlines.

Speaking of deadlines, I need to get back to researching my latest storyline which involves stalking.  Don’t worry, there might be suspense but it is a romance so there will always be a happy ending.

Two Wins and One Conference

One of my favorite writing conferences is the Emerald City Writer’s Conference. It’s hosted by the Greater Seattle chapter of the Romance Writers of America and takes place every October in Bellevue, Washington.

This year I learned a lot and enjoyed reconnecting with friends.  One highlight for me was the Blurb contest. This was a new contest the chapter put on this year. I entered the blurb from the back of my book because I wanted the critique offered to all entrants.

In addition to a critique, I placed second in the unpublished category.  This was for the same book that placed in the Daphne competition I mentioned in an earlier post. The book Pursuit will be out early next year and I can’t wait! I hope to post a cover soon.

Pursuit is a finalist for the Daphne Du Maurier Award!

I’m so happy that the first romance I’ve written was selected as a finalist for the Daphne Du Maurier Award for Excellence in Mystery/Suspense.

Weeks after entering I received a phone call. I was a finalist! That was the best feeling. I hadn’t received much feedback on my writing at that point and to find out I was a finalist. I was so excited!

Each year, there is an award ceremony for the Daphne competition held during the RWA conference. All of the finalists find out if they placed in their category. I was not able to go to the RWA conference to attend the awards ceremony for this award. Fortunately, they live streamed the event and I was able to watch and listen from my home.

I am happy to announce I placed third in my category, Unpublished Category (Series) Romantic Mystery/Suspense!

Procrastinator with Big Goals

Posted on

Yes, I admit it. I’m a procrastinator. If it isn’t on a schedule or a list, it doesn’t get done. Even then, no guarantees. But today I have coffee and chocolate and it’s a good day. The website is up and I’m excited! I finally decided I needed to prioritize getting this site up. And here it is.

In my defense, it has been a busy year. We moved into a home we thought was in great condition only to discover it wasn’t.  There have been several surprises and repairs but that is a story for another blog post.

My next priority is getting my four-book contemporary romance, with suspense, series published. I am still writing the last book which will really be the first book.  I tried to write in sequential order but that wasn’t how the ideas flowed.

As the title of this blog post suggests, I have big goals. Before the end of 2018, I plan to have these books published. I have a lot of work to do but I will get it done.

If you want notification when those books are released, I plan to add an option for you to sign up to be notified. First, I have to figure out how to do that. I am learning how to create and add to this website as I go. Please stay tuned.
